For many individuals and couples dreaming of starting a family, surrogacy can be the last resort. It's not a secret that this kind of infertility treatment is expensive. But how much does it really cost? Let's dive into this matter and determine what significant factors influence your surrogacy budget.
What Components Contribute to the Overall Cost of the Surrogacy Program?
Professional Services
Medical Procedures
Surrogate Expenses
Egg Donor Expenses
Legal Services
Embassy Services
Day-to-day Expenses
How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Surrogate?
The cost of hiring a surrogate typically totals around $30,000. This includes a base compensation of $21,500 for the Surrogate, acknowledging her vital role in your journey. A monthly allowance of $400 is provided for her needs. This cost also covers important factors such as travel, accommodation in the later stages of pregnancy, and necessary support like bed rest and babysitting for her children.
How Much Does Egg Donation Cost?
The cost of egg donation typically starts from $2,600. This fee encompasses several crucial components. Firstly, it covers the expenses of recruiting a suitable Egg Donor, ensuring that a thorough and careful selection process is followed. Additionally, it includes all necessary medical and psychological screenings for the Donor. Lastly, this amount also accounts for the compensation provided to the Egg Donor for their valuable contribution.
What Medical Procedures Are Involved, and What are the Costs?
The medical procedures in surrogacy can be broken down into three main categories:
IVF and Embryo Transfer:
The cost for each IVF attempt, which includes the embryo transfer, starts from $6,000. However, this can vary based on specific needs, such as the requirement for Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies (PGT-A), different ovarian stimulation protocols, or additional tests for Intended Parents. These variations are tailored to maximize the chances of a successful pregnancy.
Prenatal Care:
The starting cost for prenatal care is approximately $3,000. It's important to note that no two pregnancies are alike. Therefore, the price may increase if additional specialists are needed, or circumstances require hospital stays during the pregnancy. This ensures that each pregnancy receives the personalized care and attention it needs.
Delivery:
The cost of delivering in a private maternity hospital ranges between $2,300 and $3,500. However, one should be aware that neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) costs are less predictable and can potentially rise as high as $10,000. This variability is due to the complex nature of childbirth and the differing levels of care that may be required for the newborn.
Are There Legal Fees Associated with Surrogacy?
Legal fees are a significant component of the overall process, encompassing various services: contract drafting, notary services and apostille, legal consultation for the Surrogate, forms and consents for the birth certificate and passport or travel pass, custody establishment documents. The starting cost for these legal services is around $3,000, but it can vary depending on the number of attempts needed and the complexity of the legal work involved. An important consideration is the cost of establishing legal custody of the child in the Intended Parents' home country, which can vary based on local laws and regulations.

Do you know that AVE Fertility dares to claim,

Securing a passport for your baby in the surrogacy process typically involves costs that generally are at most $700. This includes the passport application fee and any related consular charges. However, it's important to note that some countries mandate DNA testing at a designated laboratory as part of this process. The costs for such testing can range from $500 to $2,500, depending on the country's specific requirements. This additional step ensures legal and procedural compliance for the baby's nationality and travel documentation.
What Additional Costs Should Be Expected?
Our programs were designed to keep your best interests in mind, so additional costs are reduced to the minimum. If there is no emergency, it's basically the living cost of your final stay while waiting for the Embassy to process your exit documents.
